More About Anthony Esposito
“My work with Iboga starts with me. This sacred medicine has presented me with countless opportunities to face myself and follow my truth. It has taught me to be a humble warrior of love, gratitude, courage, grace and abundance. I have learned how to keep myself grounded and present; I am clear about who I am and I honor myself for creating peace in my life. For decades I allowed my pain to control me, until I made the choice to value my life. My struggles have allowed me to cultivate the power inside of myself—so that I may harness these experiences to be in service to others who are called to awaken to the light inside of them.”
For Awaken Your Soul Founder Anthony Esposito, becoming a sturdy bridge to guide others in their own healing, began with trauma and darkness during early childhood in New York. At five years old, sexual abuse began at the hands of a stepbrother, continuing for many years. The conditioning of being heavily manipulated created an intense amount of fear, a lack of safety, anxiety and depression. For decades these inescapable feelings led to infinite self-destructive behaviors and severe addiction. Somehow, time and time again, he found the resiliency to bounce back from the darkness. Some have said that he has nine lives, clearly indicating a will to survive.
The turning point came in 2010, when he spontaneously decided to stop taking the antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications that he had relied upon for so long. This self-imposed detox sent him into an even deeper depression and downward spiral. Gratefully, it was followed by an invitation to begin working with the Ayahuasca medicine. This initiated an unfolding of self-discovery, and the true journey inward began.
After significant healing work with Ayahuasca, Anthony felt the call from Iboga as he began feeling the deeper work to be done. Following his intuition, he went to Costa Rica with the intention to truly embody the peace that he had begun to cultivate.
Iboga was the very medicine Anthony’s soul craved. After two profound journeys, he knew part of his life’s purpose was to help spread the wisdom and healing of Iboga. Two weeks after his initial retreat, Anthony returned to Costa Rica to train under a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman. He made two trips to Gabon, Africa, where he was pushed through a Full Initiation into the Bwiti and became among the third group of Western men to ever complete a Bwiti Rites of Passage—a grueling ritual meant to push individuals from childhood into true adulthood.
Anthony has developed a strong relationship with the spirit of Iboga, with extensive experience leading ceremonies, serving the medicine, guiding journeyers on an exploration of spiritual self-discovery, as well as in pre- and post-ceremony integration coaching, to help others implement Iboga’s teachings into their lives.
